Sunshower was born in a Tokyo rehearsal studio in 1991. Soon after, Sunshower began performing at venues and clubs in the Tokyo area, where the producer/manager of Shonen Knife, Page Porrazzo, took note of the band. They made it a point to keep in close contact with each other.

Sometime later, that relationship flourished with California Melody, the first collaborative effort by Sunshower together with Page and ex-Shonen Knife arranger Motoi Semba.

Previous Sunshower releases include 6 song cassette - Maybe The Summer Will Be Shine (92) Full length CD - Blue Dolphin (94). The band joined The 6ths as a guest vocalist. (94) (London Records)

Ayako is a petite and charming vocalist with a marvelously soft voice. She has eclectic tastes in music, ranging from girl group and French pops such as Paris Sisters and Claudine Longet to Brit Invasion bands like the Zombies and most recent artists High Llamas and Seahorses. Yasuhiro is a professional recording engineer by trade and a talented musician with an interest in everything from Sixties-type Brian Wilson-Joe Meek production to the latest sampling techniques of Dust Brothers and Aphex Twin.
